ps from ps – Lenten version During the season of Lent, we have a tendency to slow things down. To be a tad more intentional. So during these “40 days” we will be adding Soup and Psalms in person at SPEC each Wednesday at 12pm. When we gather, we’ll read a particular Psalm (the same one that will come up in the weekend worship) and ask ourselves a few questions and then take time in prayer. So I’m inviting you to do the same thing. Join us in person if you can (4007 Main St, Eggertsville NY 14226). But if you can’t, join us in spirit through email. Here is our Psalm for the week: Psalm 31:9-16. Read it through once, giving yourself a chance to breathe after, and then read it one more time. Psalm 31:9-16 9 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye wastes away from grief, my soul and body also. 10 For my life is spent with sorrow, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my misery, and my bones waste away.11 I am the scorn of all my adversaries, a horror to my neighbors, an object of dread to my acquaintances; those who see me in the street flee from me. 12 I have passed out of mind like one who is dead; I have become like a broken vessel. 13 For I hear the whispering of many— terror all around!— as they scheme together against me, as they plot to take my life.14 But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my God.’ 15 My times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors. 16 Let your face shine upon your servant; save me in your steadfast love. Then ask yourself the following: 1. What caught your attention? 2. What questions does this bring up? 3. What do you hear God saying to us through it? Feel free to share any of our thoughts with me and if you email [email protected] before 11am Wednesdays, I will share them with the in-person group. Enjoy Lent. Lord, speak to me. Amen Still in One Peace, ps |
